We just got back to the Rocket motel, after food and showers, and it's not even 10:00 yet. Even though it was our shortest day mileage-wise yet, we are both toast. Today was the hardest day, we both felt the miles. My feet hurt for the first time, at least enough that I was aware that I have feet!
It was hot again, some clouds teased us around noon but they went away and we had another hot afternoon.
We're at the point where our cognitive skills are declining, it's easier to grunt than to finish a sentence, and we understand each other's grunts. We have 138 miles in so far. Looks like it will be a Mick and a half by the end.
We started at Rochford, ran out to milepost 92, then back, then on to Mystic to complete our day with 28 miles. Running was harder than walking, powerwalking was steady and consistent, and we chicked and geezered a few people on the trail.
Hence the name "Team Chickengizzard".
Tomorrow is the hottest stretch, Edgemont to 7 miles north of Minnekahta for 23 miles. The famed rattlesnake and poison ivy section.
We'll find out for sure in the morning.
