I miss out on a lot of things for that reason. The good thing is that I have mornings free.

Yes, I know how bad the air quality in Phx area is (I'll be there next week), but at least there are some good mountain parks to escape to. I really like running on the canals too.

RickUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05995493195300025080noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5614641499256174127.post-37092822142872885652010-01-10T06:23:47.748-07:002010-01-10T06:23:47.748-07:00Rick,

I heard it should be in the 40s today! I'll believe that when I see it.

Can you ever run with the Wednesday night group at Runner's Roost? I try to make it to that one when I'm not working. I think I tolerate very hot weather well.

Have you noticed lately in the Coloradoan that the ozone has been "red alert" for several days? I thought that was mainly a Summer phenemenon.

RickUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05995493195300025080noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5614641499256174127.post-80334419164968920552010-01-08T15:13:47.183-07:002010-01-08T15:13:47.183-07:00thanks Sarah, I always hope that reading my blog i...thanks Sarah, I always hope that reading my blog inspires others to run.Alene Gone Badhttp://alenegonebad.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5614641499256174127.post-44451656417124205012010-01-08T15:02:28.450-07:002010-01-08T15:02:28.450-07:00I love to run but wow you are a real runner. Yak Trax help for the slickest conditions, but really, slowing down and running more flat-footed, and running in the tire tracks or old snow is a lot more stable footing on top of the ice tat you don't really slip.

The hardest part is getting out the door in the cold, after the first few minutes it's no problem.

I overdress too, it helps insulate me from the time it take me to warm up, and then I really don't notice the cold.

There are so many strategies, but the biggest thing is getting out the door.

We're in for more cold the next few days...Alene Gone Badhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09887360033395271217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5614641499256174127.post-13603757688425255862010-01-05T17:55:29.509-07:002010-01-05T17:55:29.509-07:00I have to confess that I have been doing almost al...I have to confess that I have been doing almost all of my runs for the past several weeks on the treadmill at the gym! I guess I haven't yet discovered the "joy" of running in bitter cold and wind. Actually, the main reason I haven't done it is that it is so slippery out there with all the ice and if you run on trails you're mucking through deep snow or mud. But, maybe I'm missing out?

RickUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05995493195300025080noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5614641499256174127.post-87730776464556648712010-01-03T17:53:32.973-07:002010-01-03T17:53:32.973-07:00Pam,

Up and up and up!

I sat down to write my own end-of-year blog this morning at 4:30, but as soon as I read this I could not contain myself. I got up, layered up and ran for 3 hours in the freezing wind and snow. It was beautiful. Thanks for the inspiration. My blog will have to wait for another day....
pamRun Home Pamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13394064430195728410noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5614641499256174127.post-89859393624481285912010-01-03T11:04:16.034-07:002010-01-03T11:04:16.034-07:00Alene,

I was heading to the Runners Roost run, but a friend who had arrived a little earlier called to warn me that they had already started at 10AM, not the 10:30 start I had planned on.

Meanwhile, I just registered for the Big Sur Marathon in April. Another chance to get back out to CA and a spectacular course to boot.

RickUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05995493195300025080noreply@blogger.com
