GONE BAD!!!

I am now on my way to Glenwood Springs to pick up Sunny Skies (aka Ken Eielson) and we are driving out to Death Valley on Friday. We plan a stop in St. George or Las Vegas to pick up supplies and then on to Furnace Creek. Steph and Katy are flying to Las Vegas and will meet us with the rental van on Saturday, and Nick will meet us on Sunday and Team Towanda will be ready for action.

You can watch the webcast at the Badwater website and look for the link to the webcast. The other link is at Adventure Corps.

My race start is at 8:00 am Pacific Daylight Time (that's one hour behind Colorado time and the same as Arizona time) on Monday, July 14th. I have until 8 pm Wednesday July 16th to finish. I have no idea how often the webcast is updated but it should be within a few hours after I get through each of the checkpoints along the course. My bib number is 72.

Team Towanda will have a crew meeting on Sunday before the pre-race briefing.

Ken and I have been looking forward to our road trip. We have a lot of catching up to do. We get going on our long-winded rants about politics. It's been 5 years since we solved all the world's problems. There are a lot of new problems to solve! We'll strap whatever coolers and gear that won't fit in the back of my RAV 4 on top of the luggage rack, crank the trance tunes and use no A/C, roll down the windows, bake in the desert wind and raise hell.

The Buffaloes wish they could go, but it's too hot for buffaloes in Death Valley. They are staying home with their dad.

They wish their mom good luck. If there is any chance we can get connected on the wireless networks in either Stovepipe Wells or Panamint Springs, we'll send Dennis and e-mail update and he will know where we are. Otherwise we'll call him when we get into Lone Pine.

Check out the webcast and I'll be blogging as soon as I can get to a computer after the race. Thanks to everyone for their support and good wishes!

I am itching to get out there and finish my journey...
